    Secretary Update

    Hello, hello again! It’s time for another CASA Update!

    I. CASA’s Last Fall Meeting

    It’s that time of year again…End the fall semester with CASA on Wednesday, December 1st in Little 109. Doors open at 6pm and the meeting starts at 6:30pm. Come learn more about our hotpot semi-formal and upcoming spring events!

    II. CASA’s Hot Pot Semi-Formal

    It’s hot, hot, hot, hotpot time!!! Join CASA as we celebrate one of the oldest food traditions in China. For only $5, you get eat, be merry and eat again. Deck the halls of Tivoli Apartments at 6pm with your best festive semi-formal attire. Bring a small gift (minimum $5, maximum $10) to participate in our white elephant gift exchange and/or a toy to donate to Toys for Tots! More details will be provided at our meeting on Wednesday.

    III. ECAASU Scholarship Applications

    The East Coast Asian American Student Union Conference will be held at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst on February 18 -20, 2011. AASU and Multicultural and
    Diversity Affairs is sponsoring partial scholarships to attendees. Applications for the scholarship are due by 5pm on Monday, November 29th to Taketo Nakao at taketon@multicultural.ufl.edu. If chosen, you will be notified to attend the mandatory first round interview on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 8PM. You must be able to attend 2 mandatory pre-conference seminars on January 24, 2011 and January 31, 2011 as well as a logistics meeting tentatively February 7 and February 14, 2011.     IV. AASU Speakers Survey

    Please fill out this survey that can help AASU bring speakers and entertainers in Spring 2011 to suit your interests. We will take all the suggestions for consideration. Also please refrain from suggesting people who have come in the last 2 years. We want a wide range of occupations from journalism, music performance, scientists, artists, dancers, spoken word artists, comedians, magicians, entrepreneurs, reality tv, etc.) Thanks.

    V. aKDPhi Banh Mi Fundraiser

    Hey guys! alpha Kappa Delta Phi is having a Banh Mi Fundraiser this Tuesday, November 30th from 5pm to 9pm! It’s $5 for a meal which includes Banh Mi, a Vietnamese style sub, ginger salad, and dessert! We will have regular Vietnamese style cold cuts and grilled chicken Banh Mi. Don’t forget to get a drink from Lollicup! 10% will be donated to aKDPhi! Come out and support your friendly aKDPhi girls!! ♥

    Hello, hello again! It’s time for another CASA Update!

    I. Living in the Past: CASA/KUSA Joint Meeting

    CASA and KUSA are having a joint meeting on Wednesday, November 17th in Little 109. Doors open at 6pm and the meeting starts at 6:30pm. Come learn more about our upcoming camping trip and other events. Arrive early for marshmallows and chocolate fondue! After, join us for a social at Bento Blue (and surrounding areas).

    II. CASA/KUSA/VSO Camping

    CASA, KUSA, and VSO are having a joint camping trip on Saturday, November 20th. Tickets are on sale now for $10. Tickets will increase to $15 if you buy them on 11/18 and after and to $20 if you buy them on the day of so get your ticket now! Tickets will be sold at the following locations:

    * 11/15-19 – AASU Office from 10:40am-3:00pm
    * 11/17 – CASA/KUSA Joint Meeting

    III. T-Shirt/Sweater Update

    Your CASA T-shirts and sweaters are in! If you pre-ordered a t-shirt and/or sweater, please pay and pick them up at our 11/17 meeting. If you do not get your shirt by our meeting, we will sell it to the general public. Please contact Treasurer Sylvia at casa.treasurer@gmail.com if you have any questions.

    IV. AASU Language Workshop

    Want to learn some Mandarin, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese, or Cantonese? Join AASU for a night of linguistic diversity and entertainment as they host their Language Workshop on November 22nd at 6pm in Graham Gallery. Come out and support CASA as we teach you some useful Mandarin phrases. Special guest, Vietnamese Professor Andrea Hoa Pham will be speaking.

    V. Concessions

    CASA’s looking for people to help with basketball concessions on 11/23 from 4-10pm. If you’re available, please contact Maggie (casa.president@gmail.com) or Sylvia (casa.treasurer@gmail.com).

    VIII. Exhale

    UF’s Multicultural and Diversity Affairs Division, Poets, Inc., Gator Nights, and Student Government proudly present “EXHALE,” a night of freestyle poetry to take place on Friday, November 19, 2010 at Orange and Brew. Doors open at 7 pm. Stop by Orange and Brew a little earlier at 1:45 pm for “INHALE,” a free poetry workshop before the show.
