    I.      CASA Winter Semi-Formal/Semi-Tacky Hot Pot

    Yum, yum! It’s that time of year to warm your tummies with some good ol’ hotpot at CASA’s Semi-Formal! Come out and enjoy delicious food while bonding and gaming with your CASA family before winter break. It’ll be our last big event of the semester, so don’t miss it!!

    CASA and KUSA will have a joint meeting on Wednesday, November 30. More details to be announced later.

    III.    Chinese New Year Applications 

    APPLY TO BE AN EMCEE OR PERFORMER OR CHOREOGRAPHER AT CASA’S CHINESE NEW YEAR SHOW!!!

    Do you want to be an emcee? Do you have a special talent or skill that needs to be shown? Can you sing, play an instrument or dance? Do you have what it takes to celebrate the Chinese culture and the Year of the Dragon? Well, then apply to perform at UF CASA’s Chinese New Year Show!!! The show will be held February 4th, 2012.     Have an itch to dance that you just can’t scratch? Well, CASA’s here to help with our dance workshops. Come out this Tuesday in Room 361-363 at 8pm, and Ian will be teaching a piece for our Chinese New Year Show. Come out and get those happy feet moving!

    VI.    Asian Kaleidoscope Month 2012 Executive Director Application

    Asian Kaleidoscope Month (AKM) is a month-long celebration of Asian & Asian American culture, history, and heritage at the University of Florida.
    Inspired by AKM 2011 to be a part of AKM 2012? Then apply for Executive Director for next year’s AKM! The duties of the Executive Director will include, but are not limited to: 1) selecting the Executive Board and Staff members 2) choosing a theme and vision for the month 3) developing the internal and external programming 4) planning and maintaining staff meetings 5) overseeing the budget Applicants must meet the following requirements: 1. Be a full-time student at the University of Florida during Fall 2012 2. Be present in Gainesville during Summer 2012 (Highly recommended) 3. Hold a minimum 2.5 UF GPA
    The application will be due December 31, 2011 at 11:59pm.

    VII.   SwampCon
    SwampCon is a FREE multi genre convention that will be held at UF in the Reitz Union on January 14th 2012. UF clubs Gator Anime, Gator Gaming, Sci-fi Consortium, and Delta Nu Delta are hosting this convention.

    The main purpose of SwampCon is to give anime, gaming, and sci-fi fans a place to come together to share and express their love of their hobbies and possibly learn about other people’s interests.

     

    Events for SwampCon include multiple video game tournaments, contests, panels, movie showings, special guest speakers, a maid café, artist alley, Doctor Who Musical, and table top gaming. If you preregister for SwampCon you are automatically entered in a raffle.

    This weekend has been full of excitement, from KUSA’s Seoul Sho to AKM Closing Ceremony to DTJ to VSO’s Pho Fundraiser. We hope you enjoyed yourself. Come join us this week as we have tea time! After classing it up, we’ll be facing the wild alongside KUSA and CIG in a joint camping trip.

    We had a fantastic general body meeting last time, where a tragic story of love and death was played out by our very own CASAwesome officers ♥ Now it’s time to relax and get ready for the holidays with another great cultural meeting, CASA’s Tea Party! Come out and learn about the many different types of tea that are cultivated in China while enjoying our wonderful refreshments

    II. CASA/KUSA/CIG Camping Trip
    Hey guys, it’s that time of year again!

    KUSA/CASA/CIG are coming together to create the ultimate camping trip experience! This year we will be heading to the Itchetucknee Springs’ Campground in Fort White, FL. In addition to your regular camping trip, we will be having fun games and activities, yummy food from the grill, a bonfire, and most importantly, bonding with all your friends.

    Tickets will be sold outside the AASU Office, Reitz third floor, for $10 on Monday, November 14th. Prices will go up to $15 dollars after Monday. Buy them early, and bring your receipts to the camping trip on November 19th.

    This Saturday, November 19th, we will be meeting at the WALMART on Archer Road at NOON to arrange rides. Then we will promptly leave for the campgrounds at 1pm.

    Recommended List of Things to Bring:
    -Sleeping bag
    -Flashlight (optional)
    -Tents (optional)
    -Change of clothes
    -Toiletries (Toothbrush, toothpaste, etc)
    -Cozy jackets (might be a little chilly)

    VII. HEAL’s Gators March for Babies
    HEAL will be hosting their Tie-Dye Fundraiser to support Gators March for Babies!
    Come out on Monday, November 14th between 5-9pm to make YOUR OWN Tie-Dye t-shirt for a donation of only $5!
    AASU’s meeting will be on the same day, that’s why we’re extending the time to 9pm so you’ll be able to go to the meeting AND make your t-shirt afterwards!

    HEY THERE!
    Do YOU like throwing balls at people?
    Do YOU like watching people getting hit by balls????
    Then we have the perfect event for you!

    Come join FLP for their third annual DODGEBALL Tournament on November 19th. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM and the tournament will begin promptly at 9AM. Location is TBA.

    Bring your dimes for the March of Dimes! We will be collecting any spare change you would like to donate to the March of Dimes Fund.
