    VI.    Children Beyond Our Borders
Children Beyond Our Borders, an educational non-profit organization based in Gainesville that works with internally displaced children in Latin America, is currently offering service trips to Colombia during Spring Break 2012 and Summer 2012 (Medellin, Cali, and Cartagena). They are looking for volunteers who want to have a unique experience in a different country with a different culture while helping hundreds of kids.

Take the journey to this unforgettable land, view the sights and learn the culture as you work to empower children affected by armed conflict and social injustice in Colombia. Teaming up with about 20 other students, you function as a single unit providing interactive and intensive educational workshops to children for the span of one to two weeks. As you work with the children, you begin to truly understand what it’s like a grow up in a developing country. You also begin to understand that, despite their hardships, the children are able to flourish, love and laugh beautifully.

The deadline for the CB 2012 Trips has been moved to December 15th for Spring Break, and December 31st for Summer. In addition, we know that with this economy it is really hard to get the money together for the trips, so we have decided to create a referral plan to help volunteers fundraise money. The referral plan means that for each person you convince to go and Apply for one of the trips, and put you as a referral contact, you will receive a discount of $20.
