Bigs and littles are determined according to a survey taken during the CASA meeting prior to Big/Little Week. For one week, CASA holds events with the purpose of creating a bonding experience between paired bigs and littles. Bigs should act as mentors to their littles; littles return the favor during Reverse Big/Little Week.
At least once every year, CASA stays overnight in the woods. Members spend the night telling scary stories, roasting marshmallows, playing manhunt, etc.
The Chinese New Year Show is held on campus as a student celebration to the new year according to the lunisolar Chinese calendar. It is also CASA’s most popular event. Hosted by our special events coordinators, various students come together to showcase their talents and make the show successful.
At the end of the year, CASA hosts a formal banquet to reminisce on past events. New officers are also inducted on this night, and superlative awards are given to some of CASA’s most active members.
Lollicup, which is located on 34th Street south of Archer Road, is the go-to place for bubble tea and delicious treats like frozen yogurt. With board games, movie nights and karaoke nights, what can make a social better?
To celebrate this popular Chinese holiday (also known as the Moon, Mooncake or Lantern Festival), our special events coordinators host a night filled with entertaining, culturally-oriented performances.
Sometimes we all need to get out of the empty college town of Gainesville and explore new opportunities. CASA members take semesterly trips to Orlando, where they enjoy a day of feasting on dim sum, wandering the great outlet malls and hanging out with fellow CASA members from the University of Central Florida.
CASA has held events ranging from beach trips to rock climbing to wallpainting to potlucks to sports games. Let us know which one your favorite is, or suggest an idea of your own through our Formspring!
* Note: We understand that many students do not have access to transportation for off-campus events. For this reason, we urge you to contact an officer (or even your big!) for a ride whenever needed.
